| "Bonnie" 8x10" acrylic on mounted ampersand (C) Cara Bevan 2011 |

| A commission for codenamed Murashu on FA in honor of their beloved furbaby Bonnie. They adopted Bonnie from the local animal shelter in December of 1991 when she was about three months old. Bonnie was socialized with her housemates as a kitten, but as an adult she became more reclusive. She was very timid and anyone new would send her scrambling for the basement. Even regular guests like friends and family never saw her unless Murashu carried her from the basement. She’d hang around as long as she was held but the moment her feet touched the ground she was running. Only on rare occasions could she be found resting, unaware, and be petted without her running. Despite her shyness, she was never an aggressive cat. If taken to the groomer or vet she never bit or scratched. She didn’t even struggle and was easy to work with. But the first chance she got, when no one had their hands on her, she was running for a safe place. Usually her pet carrier if her basement wasn’t around. Bonnie remained the shy girl, to everyone but her owner. At 15 years old she began having kidney problems, but she was kept in relatively good health for three years. Her food was kept on the dishwasher to test her abilities. If she could still jump there, then she was fine. As time passed, she became quieter than she already was and spent her time resting on the living room couch. On Halloween night, 2009, Bonnie was too weak to go on. It was an unpleasant trip to the vet for Murashu on that festive night. They have Bonnie’s collar, a special urn, and now her portrait to remember her by forever. Bonnie (1991 – October 31, 2009) |
