"Bubbles and Buttercup"
8x10" acrylic on canvas
(C) Cara Bevan 2011
Bubbles and Buttercup, a pair of male zebra finches, were
brought home together August 19th, 2002. They were raised
together and stayed together, being the best of pals despite
male birds typically being territorial with each other. Bubbles
feathers were naturally ruffled, and Buttercup seeming to be the
braver of the two. Their chipper songs and voices livened up the
home of Leon and Renei. It made their days brighter, as any
feather-baby would. After years of a peaceful life, Buttercup
passed away naturally in December 2009. Bubbles followed his
brother six months later. They were missed so greatly that
Renei's family became memmers of Avian Aficionados and, in
their memory, gave a monetary contribution to the National
Audubon Society. Bubbles and Buttercup rest in peace together
at the community park. This painting is also in their memory,
from Leon to Renei.
