| "Little One" 8x10" acrylic on canvas (C) Cara Bevan 2009 |
| This lovely portrait is of Little One, the clinic cat once belonging to the Guil-Rand Veterinary Hospital in High Point, North Carolina. Little One was an adorable calico once owned by a sweet elderly woman. When the woman had to go to a nursing home, Little One had nowhere else to go and was taken to another vet to stay. Then that hospital closed. Being an associate, Guil-Rand gladly adopted her. She was a great clinic cat – laid back, sweet and gentle, not a sour bone in her body. Little One was quiet and very lady-like, but loved people and attention. In fact, she was one of the rare few cats that enjoyed being held. She wasn’t fond of other cats, but instead openly greeted dogs. Once, Little One appeared in the magazine “Better Homes and Gardens” and was often called “superstar”. I’m sure she loved the title! She passed April 9, 2009, surrounded by her loving friends and family. Little One is gone, but she will never be forgotten. |
