| "Lucy and Sophie" 11x14" acrylic on wood panel (C) Cara Bevan 2010 |

| A beautiful commission in memory of two beloved dogs introduced me to Lucy and Sophie. Lucy, the curly haired border-collie mix, was a devoted and very intelligent dog. She understood specific words and their meaning, even though she wasn’t taught them. Lucy was much more attached to her human owners than her canine roommate Sophie. Lucy was always stoic and serious, but if you shot her a smile, she would approach for a hug. Sophie was Lucy’s opposite. The husky, a runt of the litter, stayed small but she was big in personality. She loved to play and be the diva and was best friends with the women of the family. Her vocal nature got a lot of attention and she was shameless in her want to play. Because of her playfulness, she often picked on the more serious Lucy. They competed for attention and treats but they managed to keep peace by sticking to the humans in the family. They were priceless members of the family and I’m proud to commemorate them with his portrait. |
