| "Phoenix Sunset" 5x7" acrylic on wood (C) Cara Bevan 2009 |
| Where I live, it’s hard to see the occasional beautiful sunrises and sunsets. There are so many large trees that they chop the sky into fragments. One part of my family’s land though is perfect for viewing the sky. We call it the power lines – it’s a clear, very long strip of land spreading miles and miles with giant towers along it. On one evening I walked the trail with my father (and luckily, had a camera) and saw this amazing sunset. The clouds perfectly formed a blazing phoenix, its underside lit by the light of the sun. It spread across the whole sky and I was in awe. “Phoenix Sunset” was born. |
