"Smile!"
8x10" acrylic on wood

smile box turtle head face portrait wildlife acrylic painting
Everybody needs to smile once in a while! This
eastern box turtle was a rare guest to my family’s front
yard (they usually stay in the woods with soft dirt). I
had to protect him from the cats as he made his way
through the grass. He had a hard time walking
through it, so I helped him out despite his hissing the
whole way. Still, when I looked at him, he smiled at me.
I don’t know if he really was smiling, or it’s just the
contours of his mouth, but I’ll take it as a friendly grin.
Hope you share a smile today!
