| "Wiggles" 11x14" acrylic on canvas (C) Cara Bevan 2009 |
| Commissioned by my aunt and uncle, Annette and Keith Lucy, I painted their lovely dog Wiggles. Her full name is Wildthyme Scarlette Wiggleton. She is a gorgeous registered purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Wiggles is a gentle and loving companion. Though twelve and half years old, she still has her charm and energy. Whenever she’s excited she wags her entire backside since Pembroke’s are born without tails. Among her favorite pastimes is playing in the Iowa snow and with beloved toys. When she was younger, she destroyed every toy but one – a stuffed hedgehog. She loved to hear it squeak. Although Wiggles is loving towards people this can’t be said about other animals. When someone says the word “CAT” she lets out a gruff “arf.” When there are small animals around she’s sure to chase them. There was one exception when she used to live in North Carolina. An active Boston Bull Terrier named Junior was her best canine friend and they loved to play the afternoons away. Despite her corgi nature, Wiggles isn’t as energetic or vocal. She plays good and hard for a while but, when her energy runs out, she stops and relaxes with her family. Wiggles isn’t yippy and that gives her time to listen. She learned as a puppy to ring a bell when she needs to relieve herself. Not the type of dog to be alone, she’s a furry shadow. According to her human grandparents, she loves car rides and occasionally indulged upon a treat from restaurant personnel when they went out for lunch. Wiggles is a cheerful pooch and will continue to be for many more years. |
