This is a handmade, one-of-a-kind art sculpture. The spider is made from 2 gourds, wire, and sculpted with epoxy clay. Then painted with acrylics and sealed with moisture resistant sealer. The large circular frame is made of birch wood, painted black. A web is woven from wax linen thread and attached to the frame. The spider is mounted to the base, appearing as if sitting on her web. A metal hanger is on the back. ***not for outside display***

Gourd spider #33 is a cozy Garden Spider (aka Writing spider, or Argiope). She's made her web and sits patiently for a fly or moth. These spiders are well known to be gentle and friendly, not bothering anyone as they decorate bushes and trees with their artwork. She'll make herself right at home in her home. This sculpture measures 14.5" tall, 14.5" wide, and 3.5" deep.
